Some testimonials for past students
“I have to admit I took this chemistry of essential oils course because I needed the CPD hours. But I am delighted I took it. Christine made the chemistry easy to understand and I know I will refer to the excellent and detailed course manual again and again. Thank you so much for such an informative and well presented course it will encourage me to use my essential oils in ways I never knew I could.” AD
About the course:
As a Professional Aromatherapist, it is important to have a detailed knowledge of the essential oils we use. Part of that knowledge comes from having an understanding of the complex chemical make up of each essential oil.
Because an essential oil may have hundreds of chemical constituents, it is a challenge to communicate its chemical nature and thus its action in the body. Rosemary Caddy* has created a course, which aims to simplify the imparting of this knowledge. “The Caddy Profiles” will help you see, at a glance, the chemical nature of an oil. It also communicates the expected therapeutic nature of the oil. It allows you to compare it with other oils and can alert you to possible hazards of an oil. Christine Courtney has expanded and enhanced this course to include a wider range of oils thus making it the most comprehensive and interesting chemistry course available.
When you have a complete knowledge of the chemical make up of an essential oil, you will understand why there are some essential oils which should not be used in pregnancy, what oils to blend to kill MRSA, and why so many essential oils are so safe.
This is a one-day postgraduate course for Professional Aromatherapists. The day will cover:
- Some basic Organic Chemistry
- Major classes of molecules found in essential oils
- Functional groups
- Essential oil safety – what constitutes a hazard?
- Making therapeutic blends using our knowledge of chemistry
- How to blend essential oils for acute and chronic conditions
- % blending for acute conditions
