About Stone Massage

The hot stones used in this therapy are Basalt Lava Stones, which have been deposited in the rivers and oceans as a result of volcanic action. They have been washed and “tumbled” along the sea floor and riverbeds for thousands of years and are very smooth. Due to its composition Basalt will retain heat for a long period of time.
Cold stones are used in massage to help reduce inflammation, to “wake up” the tissues, stimulate the body and to help relieve pain.
The use of stones in massage brings an extra dimension to the therapy, as the stones themselves contain the energy and memory of the earth. Their energy helps the body to relax and rejuvenate at a very deep level.
OBUS Hot and Cold Stone Massage Therapy has all the benefits of massage and is also:
- A deep tissue healing treatment
- A detoxification treatment
- An energy treatment
Student will learn a number of ways to use hot stones in massage, including
They will also learn how to use cold stones to increase stimulation and elimination.
Cold stones can be used to:
- Reduce inflammation
- Reduce oedema
- Stimulate circulation
- Assist wound healing
Requirements for this course:
This workshop is open to qualified massage therapists who hold a recognised Anatomy and Physiology qualification.
